So a little while ago I did a series of different analyses on the film Whiplash. These took into account things like narrative, context and genre. Now what I'm going to do is talk about how I did the analysis and how it will help me in the future.
In order to perform my analysis I watched the film a couple of times and looked at different parts of it in great detail. Looking at how different characters relate to the different character archetypes in Propps theory of narrative. Looking at how different genders are represented in the film in relation to a lot of whats happening in modern society was a very interesting thing to do because when you watch films you don't tend to think about these things. It was just pretty interesting to see the film in a different light.
Doing this helps me in my future life as it allows me to look at the work that I'm creating and think about how I can make it work better in relation to these different aspects. It means I can make stories that are much more engaging to all audiences and not leave anyone feeling under represented.
